Online Intentions: Reason Why People use Online Dating Websites

Nowadays, more and more people are starting to use online dating websites. The Internet is fast becoming a means for many people to get connected. You could actually call it a way of life. Despite the increasing number of people who go online dating, each of them has his or her own reasons for doing so. Some are looking for a life partner. Others are there simply to have fun.

But wouldn’t it be interesting to know why people do go online dating? Let’s take a closer look:

1. Lifetime commitment: Many people are looking for a mate. That person to share the rest of their lives with. Many online dating websites offer them such an opportunity. Although it isn’t written in the list of “people you’d like to meet”, it is considered a given. The truth is that it is really up to the person to find that lifetime partner. The online dating service is merely a means to find Mr. or Ms. Right. It allows singletons the chance to know a bit more about their potential mate even before they actually meet. Profiles give one an idea into what sort of person they could end up with.

2. The weekend dater: This is yet another “unspoken” or “unwritten” listing. It is again up the person to choose the right person for a simple weekend date. This however, doesn’t mean that it is just that. What this actually means is that the singleton wants to date someone. But isn’t ready for a long-term or lifetime commitment. Just looking for love and romance. But whether it is “till death do us part” is yet to be seen.

3. Simple friendship: This is where it all begins. Although the term “online dating” is used, it doesn’t necessarily follow that friendship isn’t part of the deal. In fact, the best relationships are based on a firm foundation called friendship.
