Five Dating Don’ts

December 9th, 2009, Posted by Eddy Ankrett

Going out on a first date can be nerve-racking, especially if it is with someone you really like.

While it’s important to impress her, it’s also equally important not to put off the girl you’re dating. Be careful not to commit these dating sins.

1. Don’t under-dress. When a woman goes out on a date, she makes it a point to not only be presentable, but be beautiful. If she took the time to look good for you, then you better do the same. Arriving at her place wearing yesterday’s clothing won’t give you a future with her. In this case, it’s better to be overdressed.

2. Don’t leave the plans to her. Although it’s good to know what a girl wants, it doesn’t mean she should do the planning. Remember, you’re the guy here! The woman you’re dating wants to be treated like the princess that she is. If you don’t care enough to take control and plan the night properly, chances are there won’t be a second date. Having a concrete plan for the date shows her that you gave your date some thought, instead of showing up with no idea of what’s going to happen.

3. Don’t talk about things that will turn her off. If you’ve just come from a miserable relationship, that’s your problem. She doesn’t need to hear about your ex-girlfriend. The first date is the getting-to-know-you stage, so treat it that way. Ask her questions that will allow her to open up and feel comfortable with you.

4. Don’t split the bill. While it may be true that the society we live in today dictates that men and women are equal, it doesn’t indicate that chivalry is dead. No matter what happens, your date is still a lady and she will look favourably upon your treating her, not on your mistreating her.

5. Don’t promise to call when you know very well that you won’t. For some reason, guys can’t help but say this at the end of a date. It’s over-used to the point that women no longer believe it. If you’re going to say it, make sure that you follow it up with the promised phone call.

If you want to make a good impression with the girl you’re dating, refrain from committing these dating sins.
