Dating Regrets
November 9th, 2009, Posted by Eddy AnkrettEveryone loves to hear a love story with a happy ending. When it comes to relationships, most of us envisage the ideal scenario wherein we end up with the very person we love. The sad thing about life is that before getting married, there are a lot of mistakes to be committed along the way. Mistakes that will leave us with tons of regret. Here are a few bad situations you should try to avoid.
Waiting too long. Sometimes you can love a person so much that you love blindly and ignore the pain your lover is causing you. When you’re getting hurt for no good reason, that’s already beyond love. Learn to recognise a bad situation and get out of it before you suffer more. In the end you won’t have to ask yourself why you didn’t get out sooner.
Dating a married person. This spells disaster right from the very start. Not only are you endangering an existing family, you’re just setting yourself up for a big fall. The married person will never leave his or her family for you. Even if he does, the chances of being happy for the rest of your lives is so miniscule it’s not even worth a try.
Being too nice. The person you’re dating can take advantage of the goodness of your heart and use you just because she knows she can get away with it. There is such a thing as being too nice if you’re the one being abused.
Passing up the opportunity to ask someone out when you had the chance to. This can haunt you for the rest of your life. A lot of people out there, even when happily married, sometimes ask themselves those burning “what if” questions. Sadly, you’ll never know because you didn’t seize your moment.
Breaking up badly. Nothing hurts a person you’re dating more than being dumped and treated like trash at the same time. Perhaps this may seem like a good idea to you, but you won’t be smiling when you look back at that moment in the long run. Whatever the reason, it pays to be the bigger person in a relationship, especially when it comes to breaking up.
These are just some of the sad situations in the ever-expanding world of sob stories. Learn to recognise and avoid them before you commit the same mistakes. You owe it to yourself and the person you’re dating.
