7 Things a Girl Must Do Before Going on a First Date
February 25th, 2009, Posted by Elizabeth KnellerThat all important first date – it makes or breaks a potential relationship. He’s nervous, she’s nervous, and it all adds up to a recipe for disaster if care is not taken. There are a number of important things a girl should do before going out on a first date. They may not be quite as critical as the things a guy must do, but they are important. Get them right and the dream carries on. Get them wrong and it’s back to the drawing board. Here then are the 7 things a girl must do before going on a first date.
1. Presentation is everything, so prepare well. Girls are notorious for taking hours to prepare for anything, spending more time in the bathroom preening themselves than any guy could imagine. It’s all very necessary though, as any girl will tell you.
2. Choose the right clothes for that first date. Don’t be too casual. That might give him the wrong idea about you. Don’t be too business looking either. Aim for smart casual, a relaxed but sensible look. And if you choose to wear a skirt, it’s probably best if it’s not tight fitting and short. Think about it: you want him to look into your eyes – not stare at your bum outlined starkly against a skimpy skirt! All told, it’s probably best to wear trousers or jeans.
3. Wash your hair. I know, girls wash their hair all the time and this advice is probably too obvious. However, it could be the difference between light, shiny, lusterous locks and heavy, drab, worn out hair. It’s your choice, but he will notice, even if he doesn’t really know what he’s noticing.
4. Give a lot of thought to your makeup. How much is the real question. You don’t want to come across as a painted lady all covered in artificial colouring. Some guys don’t like that. However, it’s probably expected that you will have some makeup on. When in doubt the natural look always works fine.
5. Do you really need all those things in your handbag? Guys can get intimidated when a girl rummages around in a handbag to rival a suitcase. Keep your handbag sensibly sized and don’t have a whole bunch of unnecessary things rattling around inside it.
6. Bring enough money with you. I know, I know… The guy should pay on the first date. But what if a problem arises in his financial department, or if he expects you to pay your share? Be prepared and bring enough with you just in case. You probably won’t need it, but it’s better to be safe.
7. Try to learn a bit about your date if you can. Guy love to be the centre of attraction, and if he discovers that you have made the effort to be interested in him, then you can get away with murder for the rest of the evening. Flatter him, but not too much. You’ll have him eating out of your hand in no time flat!
